AP Government

Course Description:  First Semester:  This course is designed to explore the basic elements of the American political system, including its structure and operations, and the behavior of the electorate and politicians.  In addition to learning and understanding important facts, concepts, and theories pertaining to U.S. government and politics, students will also be able to analyze and interpret relevant basic data.  Second Semester: In addition to studying government in grade twelve, students will also master fundamental economic concepts, applying the tools (graphs, statistics, equations) from other subject areas to the understanding of operations and institutions of economic systems. Studied in a historic context are the basic economic principles of micro- and macroeconomics, international economics, comparative economic systems, measurement, and methods. Upon successful completion of this UC/CSU approved course, students will earn ten credits. 

Students who score a 3 or higher on the AP Exam, may earn college credit – check with the college admissions office to verify.
